OP makes is that there was all that attention about corporate malfeasance and nothing about the extinction of yet another important component of the biosphere. Without a healthy biosphere, jobs and twinkies will cease to have meaning.

It's the biosphere, folks. The planet will survive, it doesn't require air, water and food... all things that exist upon it do.
