20. Both will lose to Obama, but it's tough.

A Romney nomination and loss would cause he Tea Party Republicans to become even more radical. It could fracture the party or, at a minimum, keep it divided and losing at all levels for a long time. I don't want the Tea Party out of the Republican system any time soon.

A Gingrich nomination would give Obama a much more certain and satisfying victory. The Tea Party Republicans would be forced to pipe down and crawl back into their box. That would have the unfortunate effect of letting Republicans who don't drool or wear Revolutionary War garb run the show again. We would definitely miss them in 2014.

But four more years of Obama and the sustained success that Democratic leadership brings the country would give the voters a solid contrast with the Bush/Republican years. I guess I will be happy with either Gingrich or Romney.
