Being a Republican means you're part of the world frequented by the likes of Rush Limpbaugh, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and the rest of the idiots who spew forth lies, misinformation, bigotry, and hatred.
Republicans in Congress have two standards, one for themselves and one for everyone else. They accept no responsibility for the damage their policies have caused, and most Americans realize where the blame lies when it comes to the deficit, spending, and the slow economy. The GOP can't hide their track record, and they depend on under-informed, low information voters to stay in office.
I would think being identified as a Republican today would also be very embarrassing, proof that a person is not capable of thinking for themselves, and they rely on people like Limpbaugh, Palin, etc. for information, even though they've been documented liars for years.
