(4,858 posts)...always. Think of everything this past fifty years--Dallas. Vietnam. Nixon's 1968 treason. Reagan/Bush's 1980 treason. Iran-Contra. Impeaching the President of the United States over a blow job. The theft of the 2000 election. The Iraq War. The outing of a CIA agent--more treason. The destruction of the economy in 2008, and the general looting of the country. When are "They" *ever* brought to justice?
Just once. Watergate. And even here, this was only because Nixon had pissed off too many of the other institutions of power, like the CIA and FBI, both of which maneuvered to bring him down. And he, of course, was pardoned by Ford. And both the GOP and the media learned their lessons--never to permit it to happen again. The Watergate scandal, of course, could not happen today.
"They" got away with it all. "They" will *always* get away with it. It would require revolution in the US--not an election, the real thing, 1789-style--to change this. And who could want such a thing? If this all sounds pretty pessimistic, well, that's because it is...
