8. You sure that's North Dakota? There are trees on the horizon.

Yeah, from living there for 45 years, I know North Dakota does have trees on the horizon. There is where most of them are too, on the horizon.
That picture IS what rural ND does look like, gravel road and all. There are no fences because fences interferes with farming the ditches and sometimes even the road right of way.
70,762 square miles and a population of 699,628 = almost 10 people per square mile. The unemployment rate is around 3% because when the kids get old enough to leave, they do.
