I don't worry about who is derived from who, because that way madness lies, and the fetishization of novelty leaves me cold. Not saying that you do that, but I've seen that discussion many times here on DU.

Lady Gaga apparently puts on a good show, and if it's entertaining without harming anyone, I'm content. I also like her politics, as you note, which give her a strong advantage over Kid Rock from the get-go.

I should disclaim, however, that I don't actually own any of her music, so...
