The best terms are listed here .
However, I'll cut her some slack since she's not a mental health professional of any kind. If she WAS a mental health professional, I would cut her NO slack whatsoever.
Other MHP's on this board can probably relate, but I must have heard the slang words many many times during my career. It made my blood boil on many many occasions. However, the ignorant were educated by me (and others) and came to view the mentally ill more favorably.
I think Rachel is a friend of the mentally ill, and thus I'm not overly upset. Next time she can say "mentally ill".
