(20,226 posts)22. I've had plenty of mental illness in my family and I don't see any problem with people using words
like nuts or crazy in that context. In fact I use such terms myself quite regularly within the same context. I really don't think very many people who suffer from mental illness or are have close friends or family members with mental illness have any problem with using terms like nuts or crazy in that context.
Now calling someone mentally ill, psychotic or schizophrenic or any other diagnosis is a different matter.
