27. I used to know guys like that

One guy in particular that I knew in college. Never had a steady job, but he'd find decent used cars with minor problems, drive them for a while and either fix or conceal the problems, and flip them.

Lots of "for sale by owner" folks on eBay who pick up cars at auction and turn them around.
