your op article is an altmedia article. The altmedia is the minor leagues to next years regular media

therefore this years writer on the altmedia minor league will be next years regular media and then a newer group of altmedia will rail about the ex-altmedia who is now regular media

bad example-Tim Russert got famous with his stat dryink board.
Chuck Todd was the old Nate Silver who became NBC/MSNBC star
Now, blooger turned NY Times famer, now Nate Silver is moving up to regular media
