12 people were shot today during a Mothers Day second line on the corners of N. Villerie and Frenchman St. The conditions of the victims are not immediately known. There are reports of victims as young as 8 years old. Among the wounded was Mark Hertsgaard a writer for Vanity Fair, The Daily Beast, and The Nation.

Earlier Sunday afternoon, NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas said that about 12 people had been injured, but the toll later grew to 19, with the NOPD explaining that some victims initially hadn't reported being injured and more people continue to come forward.
