(19,537 posts)... for most if not all of his crimes in the past, and he knows that he won't have to answer criminally for it, even if he might have to answer to the voting public and hopefully get his ass voted out of office! I think the latter is certainly a worthwhile goal of pursuing to get all of this out on the table and continue to do so.
In addition to the criminal pasts that have been discussed in many other posts, I think it's important to point out this story of him getting arrested for speeding and his reaction to it (that was more recent than his earlier crimes). Evidently must have not been happy that his company's radar detector didn't help him in this case.

He's always been a part of trying to "oust" Democrats and those he doesn't like from office, like Gray Davis. Additionally he was one of those who issued public statements on Carol Lam that gave the Bush administration rationale for firing her when she prosecuted Duke Cunningham and other Republican "crony" friends like Brent Wilkes and Dusty Foggo.
What was amusing there is that he was criticizing her "lack of effort" to prosecute illegal immigration. This article explains why this effort was so "wrong" as well...
