In 2006, my Wife & I sold everything,
bought a small piece of land in the Ouachita Mountains of west Arkansas,
far from Agricultural, Industrial, urban, and suburban pollution.

We planted a big Veggie Garden, Fruit Trees, and a variety of Berries,
raise chickens,
and keep Honey Bees.

We live as sustainably, independently, and Green as possible.

We are not "Survivalists",
just Old Hippies who have always been attracted to this lifestyle.
So far, so good.

Living Well on a low "taxable" income,
and stuff we learned in the 60s.

On Edit:
There is a Rural/Farm Group here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1182

and a Gardening Forum here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1159

These groups used to have more members,
and a lot more activity,
but most of the dedicated regulars have left due to the open hostility toward those who dare to question the direction the Democratic Party leadership is taking toward the Privatization and Corporatization of America.
