head enough times, the brain will swell until the person is adequately treated to stop the swelling or dies.

If the police didn't want the guy on the ground to die, maybe they should have stopped hitting him in the head.

The newscaster also says that he doesn't know whether the guy on the ground had drugs in his system or not. Even when a person on drugs gets repeatedly hit in the head, their brain will swell.
