16. I'm increasingly coming to believe we need a draft

Is there any misuse of the military that can't be dismissed with "they volunteered?" For the past decade we've had two Americas, the one at peace and the one with loved ones serving overseas.

I don't think the volunteer military has been good for democracy, even if it has proven successful in terms of combat effectiveness.
