(5,937 posts)I was being prepped to have blood taken for a physical I was taking when I was hired on to police department. I had these kind of physicals numerous times because I had been in the military, corrections, EMS and fire services. This time the nurse had problem getting a vein and proceeded to rub the inside of my elbow. I had never been squeamish, and like I said I've given blood more times than I can recall but there was something about that sensation of rubbing the inside of my elbow that made me sick. I immediately got tunnel vision and color was draining away from my face, sounds seemed distant and I'm guessing right before I was about to fall out of the chair on my face the nurse noticed my condition and immediately brought me back. Cool cloth on forehead and neck, seemed to bring me out of it. Not a fun feeling and I still get woozy just thinking about it.
I have seen people faint before. Particularly when I was in ROTC and the military. People would lock there legs when standing at attention for a length of time and it would cause them to pass out.
