In reply to the discussion: was talking to a friend about my allowing a guy to put his trailer on one of my river lots. [View all]uppityperson
(116,022 posts)35. I've been on both ends of this arrangement and thank you for bringing this up and doing this.
Our wonderful house/pet sitter started as a recently unemployed homeless person who moved in with us like that for a while, now is house sitting all over and still feels owes us and we feel we owe them.
Trying to come up with $ for rent, I stayed in a trailer of a stranger for a while. I had 1 person later who stayed in mine and stole my bedding and dishes, but oh well. It made me distrust people for a while, but then the good pet/house sitter happened.

Allowing someone to put their trailer on a lot is one thing. And I applaud you for it. But

When I bought this place, 40 years ago, it had 2 houses on it. No one ever paid rent for the other

Good solution. I don't want any trouble either. His family owns lots of land.

If you're still paying the taxes on it and its still in the deed book in your name, then its yours.
