It's very limited, and easily manipulated thinking that has to break everything down into only two choices, in this case, "hero" or "goat." For me, this is not about Snowden, but about the abuses. I guess, if the abuses of your hero can be categorized as "legal," you have no other option than to attack personalities.

As Cali said, "You have to be utterly ignorant of history, in a state of denial, dumb as grits, or partisan to the point of mindlessness, to believe that the 16 major national security agencies aren't to some degree or another abusing their powers."

I don't have to approve, nor disapprove, of Snowden to be glad that this issue is finally getting the attention it deserves.
