(57,769 posts)He, like the FBI and everyone else, was wrong that the male gun nut sent the letter. Instead, his wife took advantage of the insanity of gun nuttery to send letters out of some sort of sick vendetta with her husband. That does nothing to change the fact that huge numbers of people die in this country and certain elements simply do not care. But ignore that, because those lives are inconsequential. All that matters is the feelings of gun zealots, who obsession with portraying themselves as victims is clearly far more important to them than human life. Being wrong on one event doesn't change the overall fact that there is a clear moral choice between life and death, and human life doesn't hold the same importance for gun zealots as it does for the rest of humanity. They view their capacity to stockpile untraceable weapons as more important than the lives of 38,000 Americans every year, just as Republicans consider their tax dollars more important than the lives of hungry children or high infant mortality rates that result from the lack of healthcare. We all make our political choices. Some will always choose themselves, regardless of the consequences. Humanity is a mixed bag. No one can be argued into being a compassionate human being. It's simply a question of character.
