I do know more about what is in the news and on DU than you indicate that you know, but it isn't always a good thing. I often step back from the serious and controversial issues for my sanity. Most of these things are beyond our control, so obsessing on them instead of living our lives as best we can is counterproductive.
Good for you for making it all go away. Just don't get too apathetic.
