(29,083 posts)while the whole world goes to hell. The first two years all I heard was give him a chance. I tried to tone down my criticism focusing instead on the environment, to wait and see as so many counseled here. Question anything and you could expect to be challenged. I deliberately chose my battles wisely back then. Like Occupy. I didn't give up on being a lefty Democrat even though I could see our president wasn't one. The last two years were all about silencing any opposition as hurting our election chances. We were herded like sheep, except for one difference, we let you think you won. Yes, we voted for your candidate who was not quite as bad as Romney or a real Republican.
So he's in. And nothing has changed. Especially not the excuses for his own failings by attacking anyone who criticizes him. "A shameful spectacle...not hospitable"?
Too much civility in dealing with recalcitrant world leaders who will not or cannot get their shit together has brought us to this point in history. She is not obligated to feed the fantasy, to enable the delusion.
Neither is anyone else at this point. The only question remains will he help or hurt our chances in the next election. Or is he irrelevant?
