What you said is a lot of what I have been thinking as I've been reading through this post and all the comments. I don't hate Obama at all, in fact I have been desperately hoping he can succeed on so many things and have gotten really frustrated seeing him blocked at every turn by congressional repukes.

But I won't turn a blind eye to what's going on in the banking industry or what our military is doing or chained CPI or the next "free trade" agreement being pushed over on us or the Keystone pipeline or... it seems to never end. Progressive ideals - Democratic ideals - that lifted this country out of a great depression and brought about major social advances are now being spoon-fed to us while the same old right wing bullshit is being shoved at us by both republican and Democratic politicians which is only making our situation worse and worse (as in climate change, economic inequality, military expansion, violations of civil rights, violent suppression of OWS, etc).

I would love to see a strong, progressive, liberal Democratic party but note that I have to qualify the meaning of 'Democratic' because it's been polluted by blue dogs and corporatists who are Democratic only because it suits their needs. I think a lot of these people on this thread are doing a disservice to us by refusing to acknowledge that Obama has screwed over the progressive caucus time and time again while placating to repubs.

I can understand the fear one might have if in their judgment criticizing Obama equates to losing to republicans. But it's the repub's blindness to the hidden agenda of their politicians that makes their party so pathetic. Same goes for the Libertarians. DU is the perfect forum for us to keep from doing the same thing as them.
