I was frankly surprised as well that quinnox never returned to defend his or her assertions, since he or she was the one to raise them originally and I merely weighed in in support. Be that as it may, the point I was trying to make here is that the U.S. owes a huge debt to the world and to Iraq for the crimes we manifestly committed in Iraq and, whether it was Obama's "fault" hardly matters, since it is an American responsibility and criminal liability.
I was trying to respond to your questions myself without a lot of caffeine this morning and apologize for my surly tone. I agree that the questions are not simple and the answers will be equally complex. But just as Nuremberg after 1945 allowed the world to create a new framework for international law and human rights that superseded the treaty of Westphalia, so too the denouement of Shocking and Awful would allow for a new global consensus on acceptable and unacceptable behavior between and among nations and their peoples, one that allows American itself to continue moving toward a 'more perfect Union.'
