(33,688 posts)I am Asperger's and haven't been able to find a decent job in 20+ years in the profession I was trained for - law. And I graduated from the same law school in the same class as Michelle Obama. But I was born and raised working class in addition to being Asperger's. There isn't enough Harvard Law School in the world to overcome being both working class and Asperger's in today's American legal profession. Shit, at least in China if you have brains they will put you to work somewhere doing something productive. Not in the US, which is according to several studies the most class-immobile society in the developed world save for the UK.
See this post for my thoughts on your second point: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023189922#top
The US and China are on almost perfectly convergent courses. Though I think in 40-50 years China will probably be a more free society than the US. This will be the Chinese century. Bank it.
ETA: I've only been in Fuyang City for two and a half days. Every bite of food has been spectacularly, impossibly good, and every dish has come from some local hole in the wall with ten tables.
