What does matter is that the finer points of why the jury ruled the way they did (Zimmerman was NOT found innocent, only reasonable doubt as to the motives) will be L O S T on the butt-scratching teabagger who will see this as giving them free reign to kill at will.
I fear for those in the South, of any color, as your every encounter will make you doubt yourself. People will be fearful to confront anyone for fear that that person can just pull a gun and shot them and claim self defense. No, its not legal or the same thing but try explaining that to the average teabagging idiot that has less understanding of the Constitution and the law than the average 3rd grader.
The Zimmerman verdict, if you agree or disagree, has more far-reaching impact that this one young man and his family. It is a dark new age for us all.
