(11,709 posts)While I agree that your links (moonie times and newsmax) are generally awful sites filled with right wing nutbaggery and that James Woods usually supports very right wing policies, I still agree to an extent that more jobs do often lead to fewer incidents of racial strife.
If unemployment were back under 5% as in the Clinton years and we were looking at a budget surplus instead of a deficit, then yes, we would likely have less overt racism because there would be less need to scapegoat those who don't look or act like us. That's just common sense that happens to be supported by research.
On the other hand, Woods has a lot of gall to suggest these things when it is because of his support (as well as many other ignorant and spiteful republicans) that we do not have a low unemployment rate or a budget surplus. His party is currently fighting to destroy the minimum wage, refuses any stimulus package, and continues to push austerity policies which have been proved to harm the economy.
