(4,840 posts)and what kind of precedent does condemning Anthony Weiner set?
What if a random senator had an open marriage with his wife? Open in the sense that, just between them, there was an understanding that this kind of behavior was permissible? It was something personal they wanted to keep just between themselves and whatever third party that was recruited to engage in the behavior? And then some third party leaked it without their permission?
Now do you see the silliness in making someone's personal life a political issue? When is someone's personal life their own that they don't have to answer questions about it? I don't challenge the accusations of lying. I challenge the presumption of even asking and calling forth someone to answer and attest for their personal, non-criminal activity. This is setting a very bad precedent. You have no clue why someone would want to keep something private by lying about. I'm so tired of people using sex to corner people in lies and then saying "It's not about sex, it's about lying!" Nonsense! I challenge the entire premise of making it an issue at all! These are Ken Starr tactics.
It's nobody's business. If you don't want to vote for someone based purely on their non-criminal personal life, I would say that's ridiculous because where does it end? But it's your vote.
