This started 35 years ago or so in the Reagan revolution. Many whites had good factory jobs which disappeared a long time ago. I am not saying that whites have it as bad or worse than minorities, they just have it a lot worse than they used to.
Not familiar with the area, but there have always been spoiled white kids making trouble as well. Everything has gotten worse in the last 35-40 years with the exception of the very rich. Americans work more than the citizens of almost every other industrialized nation during that time span, but it wasn't always the case. I can remember my lower middle class white neighborhood growing up, most of the moms were home with us. I live in an upper middle class neighborhood now and everyone works here!
