103. It's okay. DUers don't care about those issues.

They only care about one issue. They'll go to the mat for right-wind ideologues on this specific issue and hardly put any effort into any other important agenda here at home. It's been interesting watching the supposed 'left-wingers' here completely ignore so many important issues because all they can do is whine about the NSA ... over and over again. It's the only real topic here that garners discussion. Everything else is a non-issue. DU should change its name to NSA Outrage because, let's be honest, that is the only issue liberals care about. That's the only issue that has riled 'em up to the point where they'll fight tooth and nail and throw their support behind reactionist asshole rapists like Assange because, gosh, on this one issue he might maybe be right! Fuck the rest of the issues, though!

It's the same when they all fell in love, for a day, with Rand Paul over drones.

But don't you dare try to get them to put that same passion into things like immigration reform, the environment, abortion, gay rights, women's rights, voter rights and other rights that are constantly eroding here at home. Where is the constant outrage over what is happening in New York with stop and frisk? Sure, you'll get a handful of posts ... but they almost always are overshadowed with the constant NSA complaining. No one seems to care that voter rolls are being purged of legal citizens solely because they're black, or that certain states are taking on extreme measures to limit a woman's right to choose.

This is what the far-left has become and why I feel further alienated from this ideology. The entire obsession with the NSA is appalling because it just proves how the left doesn't give two shits about so many issues they supposedly care a whole helluva lot about.

Since I've been here, I've never seen the left put this much emotion or energy as they have into the NSA into any other major issue. How fucking pathetic is that? How pathetic is the left for that very reason?

How sad does that make DU?

Then they complain when their politicians don't stand up for liberal issues. Hell, most DUers here would happily throw every other liberal cause under the bus if it meant pushing even further with this NSA bullshit. It'll overshadow our gun laws, the purging of voters in North Carolina, a dead black teen in Florida, the stripping of women's rights in Texas and the overall assault on our environment.

Amazing. Let's just admit the left, at least the DU left, are a bunch of hypocrites. If that's what liberalism has become, essentially bitching about so-called spying, this ideology has failed and it will lose. It will lose and the left will continue to be marginalized by the wackos like those who post on DU.
