Both countries have peaceful and prosperous democracies now. Their citizens seem quite happy not to be ruled by fascists any more.

There is even more peace and prosperity in the Balkans than there was before NATO intervened to stop the atrocities of the early 1990's. Slovenia and Croatia have joined the EU and other countries that were part of Yugoslavia are on a path to join.
