In reply to the discussion: Slut shaming of Miley Cyrus is sexism and racism in action [View all]intheflow
(28,466 posts)S.O. and I had this conversation last night. I think she's a manufactured star and this stunt was manufactured, too. She must live in such a bubble - and has pretty much her whole life - that her agent/handlers could tell her anything and she'd believe it was the right thing to do. I'm sure she's hoping she'll be Brittney, but more often than not these female child stars try to make the leap into the adult music scene and end up ruining their careers and going on some kind of skid. Kind of a 21st century of version of the playboy bunny spread many girl actresses were advised to do to jump-start a wanna-be acting career in the '70s and '80s. It seems to me the ones who transition best from child start to adult star are the ones who keep it classy: Anne Hathaway, Jodie Foster, Drew Barrymore (though she had to go through some shit to get there, admittedly), Natalie Portman, Emma Watson.
