And Saudi Arabia is already involved by proxy...they are funding and supplying the AQ rebel groups. If they became directly involved, that would probably lead to direct involvement by Russia in support of Assad. Saudis do not want to go toe to toe with Russians....much prefer using their AQ goons and get US to do the heavy lifting.
