He is so incredibly emotionally invested in the Democrat vs. Republican war that he cannot even countenance the idea that Obama might be pushing bad policies, much less speak out against them, because that would mean that the 2008 election wasn't the tide-changing victory over the enemy that he imagines it was. In his fervent partisan mind, in 2008 we humiliated the Republicans and elected a President that would put his boot on their collective neck. Admitting that this President shares many of the same backers, and has adopted many of the same agendas, as those same despised Republicans causes far too much cognitive dissonance to be allowed.
Bottom line: these people, much like the Tea Party, have their sights on the wrong enemies - each other. The real enemies are relatively anonymous and stand behind the Congress and the Senate directing policy with campaign contributions and other less visible levers. Our enemies are ecstatic to have us directing our energies into partisan skirmishes rather than toward unmasking and gelding them.
