18. I agree to a limited aspect of this

Many Americans, close to 50%, are too stupid to understand that the Republican party is actively hurting them. They are too easily kept in place with platitudes about abortion and morality (a.k.a. religion) even though those in power will never actually change these things for fear of losing their base.

Now, where the Republicans are smart is in manipulating those people. It doesn't mean tht conservatism is good for the country or that their "smartness" is a plus in terms of running government.
