7. That reminds me (sorry!)

of the time I first put my toddler son in a high chair to feed himself. He took one look at me and swiped his bowl off the tray in defiance. I didn't yell or scold him, just let him sit there screaming his sweet little head off while I ate my own lunch. And dessert. Slowly. Then I cleaned up his mess and took him out of the high chair where he'd been imprisoned and sat him on the floor. Said, "How soon are you going to do that again?"

He got nothing but water until dinner time. When I placed him in his high chair, he was too busy gulping down food to repeat the earlier shenanigans. Never repeated his mistake, either. Grew up to be the most well mannered child you ever saw with very little effort on my part.
