Democrats are in a safe, modern air bag equipped sedan. Republicans are in an old pickup with the gas tank directly behind the seat and are in our lane, coming fast.

If, like me, you think that Republicans are THE problem america faces, stay the course and hang on. Close your eyes if you wish.

We have no obligation of saving them from themselves. In fact I'd argue that we have an ethical responsibility to NOT.

No deal for either the shutdown or the debt limit. Bring the people of the mint back as essential personnel, and strike a $5 trillion coin the day after the default with Reagan's picture on the front and an elephant's ass on the back.
