(14,912 posts)Someone making over $90,000/year *should* be able to provide basic care for their kids. I worked one construction job for seven years, making between $1,500 - $2,000/week, but didn't have insurance. I was lucky that my kids were very healthy, and I paid cash if they had to go to the doctor.
I was disabled in a work related accident 10 years ago, and now I make less in a month than I did in a week. I used to HATE seeing the deductions they took every week for FICA, Social Security and Medicare, but now I'm glad they did. If anyone *ever* wants to piss me off, come tell me my disability payments are an "entitlement". I worked my ass off, paid into SS & Medicare, and they can kiss my ass if they think I'm getting an "entitlement".
