(151,259 posts)I can't see what the point would be. If I don't see someone posting, does that mean they aren't posting? I don't think so. I want to see everything on DU, if I choose to. I frequently ignore threads, the old fashioned way. I just don't click on them. I also ignore a few people in the same way, if they choose to attack rather than discuss issues with me.
But, to hide them so I can't see what they post? That would be incredibly stupid. I tried it once, for a short time, and quickly ended the experiment.
Putting people on Ignore is a failure on the part of the person doing the ignoring. It indicates that they want to see only what they agree with. That's not a progressive thing to do. Everyone gets a voice, whether or not I agree with what they say.
