R.I.P., Tom Foley

10. Tom Foley was one of very few politicians who never talked in weasel speak.

That's why he was one of the very few politicians I placed any real trust in during my lifetime. The only Congressperson I've ever felt genuinely privileged to have represent me.

He was an old school Democrat, and the rare politician with integrity. I remember practically jumping for joy when he called out Reagan early in Reagan's first term, saying that his policies were going to cause catastrophic deficits. Wow, did he ever call that one on the nose.

He said everything flat out plain and simple. There was never any question about what Tom Foley meant when he spoke about an issue, and he did not waste words.

I despise weasel speak. People who speak in weasel tongue are hiding something; they have an agenda they are hiding.

That's one major reason I'm impressed by Rep Grayson, he's direct.
