He may not be trying to punish you. Cats are very good at getting rid of, i.e. puking, out anything which doesn't agree with them. 9-Lives is stuffed with flavorings and grains which cats do not need and actually is rather harmful. If you get off the big brands and try grain free, or better yet, switch him over to a raw diet (more work, saves $$) you will likely find he can tolerate many proteins. And contrary to popular belief, many cats are allergic to fish and cans of tuna are also not good for them. But any money you think you may be saving for the 9Lives will come back in vet bills later for sure. Just passing on some experience.

Tuna at the bargain store is cheaper than cat food. We use it as a supplement.
