Police: 'Subway vigilante' Goetz arrested in undercover drug bust [View all]

New York (CNN) -- A New York man dubbed the "subway vigilante" after he shot four youths in 1984 was arrested Friday for allegedly selling marijuana to an undercover officer, Sgt. Carlos Nieves told CNN.

Bernhard Goetz, 65, met the female undercover officer at Union Square Park on Friday and agreed to sell her marijuana, according to Nieves.

He then went to his nearby apartment to pick up the drugs, Nieves added.

After an exchange of the marijuana for $30, the undercover officer walked away and field members of the Manhattan south Narcotics Division swooped in to arrest Goetz, police told CNN.
