On one hand, he was clearly suffering a mental breakdown. On the other, if you are crazy enough to buy what these "Patriot" types are selling, then these kinds of attacks become logically necessary. So what we have here is the intersection between a poisonous ideology and and mentally ill people cut loose by the general society.

Maybe we should just start putting lithium in the water supply...
