(101,310 posts)regarding all the good folks leaving NPR. I do like the classical music that is on most of the time but Wait! Wait isn't a program the mormons like so they won't air it. Someone must have made fun of mittens one too many times... they used to air it and several other shows worth the listen, not anymore. And the church all day Sunday and a couple other times during the week is pretty annoying. All the other radio in the area are church about 75% of the time and Hannity or Slush the rest of the time. I'm not able to endure that torture for anything.
I'll still listen to the classics when they're on but now I have to use my neighbor's bandwidth for all my news. I'll have to negotiate to keep my cost of usage down. The Met is an online access thing around here too though I love it all the same.
When we both are trying to listen to something, it gets bogged down with long pauses for both of us. I try to keep that down by using my radio, that's free.
Such are the trade-offs of living on the mountainside I guess. I did go without a phone for a couple-few years so I guess I'll have to make more adjustments to my lifestyle.
Mostly I'm miffed about the biases on what is supposed to be "public" broadcasting.
