And it's been going on for far too long.

Another thing is there are a lot of people who would retire and free up jobs for other people if they had health insurance. I live in a retirement community, and I know many people in their late 50s in this position. They either cannot afford insurance at their age or would be uninsurable if they left their jobs because of pre existing conditions. They could get COBRA for 18 months, but it's very expensive. Before my wife qualified for disability, she was in this situation for awhile.
