IMO, Saxby Chambliss and Sonny Perdue would not have been elected in 2002 if the vote had not been counted by Diebold completely without paper, that is, without any way to verify or accurately recount the vote. There were also a lot of Diebold patches to the computer program during the counting (See the stuff about Bev Harris's discoveries about all this). Barnes had an 11-point advantage on Perdue about 4 days before the election and ended up losing by 11 % points, a 15-point flip. Chambliss was also down about 5 in the same pre-election polling and ended up losing by 2 or 3 I think.
