It did its work, as best it could. Scott Ritter's incomprehensible self-immolation in a teenage sex scandal the February after it came out didn't exactly do wonders for outreach, but it made the NYT best-seller list the December before (and was the top seller at Newbury Comics for a bit, for which I am oddly proud). It moved the pile, and I like to think it informed in a slow-burn kind of way. By late 2005, Bush and his war-advocate buddies were running for their lives. I like to think I played a small part in that, at least.

Eleven years on, it retains the advantage of having been right...and I've never been more unhappy about being right in my entire goddam life.
