18. I find it stunning that a state would actually issue one

without an instructor actually watching them operate one. I am not a huge support of concealed carry to begin with. I am a very strong supporter of gun control but I am also from a part of the world where even most of the liberals own some form of firearm. Getting the license is something I wouldn't pay my own money for because I will use it virtually never. I can see the value of having it say for a long road trip in which I would keep it in the car and there would be no legal problems if pulled over and searched. But I can't picture myself ever walking around town with a pistol in a holster.

But back to the range requirements - on a similar also dissapointing note. The DPSdoesnt make kids drive a car with a trooper as passenger to get their DL like when I was a kid. If nothing else it wass a right of passage.
