(12,482 posts)I own a few guns, mostvi inherited and have sentimental value. None have left the safe in over a year. Back when I used to regularly hunt quail with my dad I guess it might have applied. I guess owning them and having more familiarity with and knowledge of them than the average DUr makes it relatively true. But I strongly support extended background checks and do not believe military grade weapons like AR 15s should be aavailable to the general public. The only sense in which I consider my guns to serve a self defense function is that I suppose if my home were broken into in the night I would probably get a shotgun out of the safe. Lock the bedroom door and call 911 and hunker behind the bed. So yes I'm goingbto get my carry license but I will never actually use it.
