(62,325 posts)possession of material NOT known to the public but was holding it back for some reason.
I could link you to huge Civil Rights violations, torture, wrongful killing by our Police and our Military and of abuses against minorities, see Stop and Frisk eg as one tiny example, our horrendous prison system, all of which is public knowledge and then ask 'Why doesn't so-and- so report on all this, I'm still waiting for to hear from them on this.
Greenwald published documents he received from a Whistle Blower.
My question, since you implied that you were waiting for him to do the same Re Russia, was 'did he receive material regarding Russia that he is holding back'.
I take it the answer is 'no'. Perhaps he will and if he does I would expect, knowing his record, that he would publish it. But since he hasn't the comment had no meaning.
I'm assuming you support Whistle Blowers exposing corruption wherever they find it and that it isn't a 'well they did it too' situation in order to diminish what has been released due to the assistance of witnesses to the crimes.
Wikileaks eg has exposed corruption in many countries around the world.
WE otoh are supporting, financially as well as militarily, Dictators in several countries. Why doesn't he write about that? Because that was not the material he received.
We are supporting the Bahrain Dictatorship even as the brutalize their Civil Rights activists.
We are supporting the Karamov of UZbekistan dictatorship despite their record of brutality against Civil Rights activists, genocide, murder, torture etc.
It's a long list of Dictators we are supporting who are torturing, jailing and even killing Civil Rights Activists, including Uganda speaking of anti-gay governments.
The US is in no position right now to point fingers elsewhere, which we are constantly told sadly, until we clean up our own act.
For every abuse you list about Russia, someone will remind you of our own Civil Rights abuses.
Greenwald released information that is of importance to US because we can't fix Russia, which you seem to be saying, we have yet to get back our own Civil Rights.
