Would you have thought differently about the shooting if, instead of George Zimmerman, he were called Jorge Carpintero? If so, why? The fact remains that if Trayvon Martin had been a white kid and not black, he probably wouldn't have been shot, and that he was seen as suspicious because he was black and walking through this "gated community". The fact that Zimmerman has a Hispanic mother doesn't really change the basically racist motivations.
